What is Raw or living food?
Biotona Superfoods packages often mention Premium Raw & Organic Superfoods. But what does Raw actually mean? And why is Raw food so healthy?
Raw food is food in which all the vital nutrients are still present. In order to preserve these nutrients, the food may not be heated above 42°C and must only undergo a minimum of processing. Organic means that the ingredients have been biologically cultivated.
Living seed
Anyone who puts a raw seed and a heated seed in the ground will, in time, witness the living proof of what this means. Raw seeds will sprout and grow into a plant. In other words, they can generate new life. Although the heated seeds still contain the same nutrients, they no longer have the power to sprout.
Heating harms
Valuable nutrients such as vitamins and minerals are lost when we heat up food (frying, roasting, baking, etc). Moreover, important enzymes that are necessary for proper food digestion also lose their power. Heating further destroys all the vegetable nutrients that were originally present. These bioactive molecules help in all kinds of body processes, such as combating free radicals.
A raw and healthy idea!
Of course, warm food is also delicious, since a lot of the flavour is released through heating. Heating also makes certain foods easier to digest. Eating only raw food is a very specific form of diet that is one-sided and not always easy to follow. As a result, it is not recommended. In contrast, alternating raw nutrients with or adding them to your daily meals is a brilliantly healthy idea!
Biotona Superfoods Raw
The Biotona Superfoods contain an optimal amount of nutrients and are produced under ideal conditions. This means that they are heated to a maximum of 42°C and dried or freeze-dried in controlled conditions before being ground into powder. Biotona Curcuma, for instance, is organically cultivated and after harvesting is dried and processed into a powder that closely resembles the fresh root in taste, aroma and colour. The drying process allows the naturally present nutrients and phytonutrients to be optimally preserved. Biotona Curcuma tastes delicious in a latte (try it with a shot of espresso) or in a spicy curry.
