Fibres in the spotlight
Did you know that you need a daily intake of 30-40 grams of edible fibres to keep your intestines healthy? And that’s not all: fibres can also offer plenty of other benefits for your health. They give you a nice full feeling, so that you don’t eat too much at mealtimes, which helps to keep your weight in check. They also have a positive effect on your cholesterol and help to regulate your blood sugar level. Reasons enough to make sure you get a good portion of fibres each day!
Two types
Dietary fibres contain a wide variety of substances derived from the cell walls of vegetable foodstuffs. What do these substances have in common? They are resistant to digestive enzymes and therefore do not dissolve in the alimentary canal.
Fibres can be divided into two groups. There are insoluble fibres that absorb water and help to give you a ‘full’ feeling. Once they arrive in the intestines, they stimulate the intestinal function and ensure an optimal beneficial effect. Fibres of this type are derived from apples, cabbage, cereals, peas and beans. Soluble fibres help to promote healthy intestinal flora by serving as food for intestinal bacteria. As a result, they are sometimes known as prebiotica. Fibres of this type are derived from potatoes, beans, bananas, onions, leeks, oats and barley.
Long live the digestion!
For anyone who suffers from digestive problems — and that is no fewer than one in every four adults — there is a simple golden rule: eat plenty of fibre-rich foods! In addition, you should also drink plenty of water, so that it can be absorbed by the fibres.
Superfibres
If you want to give Mother Nature a helping hand or if you find it difficult to strike the right balance between the different types of fibres, Biotona Superfibres are just the answer you have been looking for!
Biotona Superfibres primarily contain natural edible fibres obtained from the gum of the Acacia senegal tree, at least 90% of which are soluble. In addition, Biotona Superfibres also contain insoluble fibres derived from coconut flour, olive fruit pulp and hemp seed. This is further supplemented by a mixture of dried fruit pulp from the African baobab tree, which contains both soluble and insoluble fibres, as well as being rich in vitamins, minerals and phytonutrients. Last but not least, the added powder of psyllium (flea seed) can absorb up to 50 times its own weight in water.
With Biotona Superfibres you are guaranteed all the health-giving benefits that fibres have to offer!
